Its difficult to be consistent in a world that is constantly changing,

though I have to state it isn't the "world" so much as the daily on goings of our own human society which requires our adaptability to be pushed so far to the extreme.
There's always something else, and the challenge then - even if subconscious, is to find comfort within uncertainty.

Gleefully those days of "Live, work hard and die later" are interrupted by the latest buzz and sales pitches coming from pop culture divas and latest technologies. Not that I mind, mind you, but it is just all entertainment on the road toward the inevitable and the inevitable has a three letter word "PAY". That concept, the concept of "pay" is elemental, which to me means it is beyond being human and much less complicated and far more basic - the law of equivalent exchange states that in order to gain something another thing of equal value must be spent.

We, as a species per empirical trends of history, have a tendency to "spend" rather brainlessly. The omni-present and over-all result culturally is then an overburden on the individual who then will tend to simply demand more from themselves and work harder but never really being happy or the best, maybe look for the best buy or or price or best way to either get things done or get better things in a cheaper way. All the while burdening and completely incorporating a disease of "more" and "better" as a syndrome rather than a condition. Its just an exhausting lie, the truth is there is no "I'll be happy when . . ." or "I'll be happy if . . ." and people have a tendency to distract themselves from themselves sometimes at all costs. The solution is within ones own perpetuity and the connections we have to the world around us and within us. So at the cost or our own true definition and how well we know ourselves and each other, what exactly are we paying for and what is it's worth?

The 2010 series "Waiting" was created because I understand that we expect that others are too busy to pay attention or perhaps we are too busy in our own heads to pay attention to others. During our public moments, especially when we are forced to wait - we often let our minds wander or we get wrapped up in our frustration. Our faces will give our thoughts away and often unknown by our own selves those expressions give a much deeper meaning to anyone within eye shot.

Each of these pieces are based on people who in one way or another were simply waiting - either in a line or alone, in various situations. Unsolicited photographs were taken of each person using my personal cell phone then - with permission of that person ;) a modern impressionist style piece was created. I used a high gloss paper made in the 1960's that isn't even reproduced anymore to finalize each concept. Every individual image has its own "world" that I hope you can appreciate given the story of each moment that image was motivated toward inception.

Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoy the artwork. Feel free to comment as you wish, please allow 48 to 72 hours for response to any general correspondence. To order any of these pieces or view some of my other artwork simply visit my online gallery as listed above.

I would love to hear the story behind "The Brat" :)
This was based on a firend of mine waiting for me to let him stop posing for pictures after he had worked a 10 hour work day, he repairs garbage trucks. I found it neat that even though he chose such a profession and in spite of his blue collar work in general he had such a princely attitude, the image reflects that tired superior air
